COMMUNITY KITCHENS
Daily healthy meal.
The idea of choosing to cook in a central kitchen and distributing hot meals instead of foodstuffs was based on previous experiences that people were unable to cook due to poverty and lack of electricity and gas. In addition to that, job opportunities were created for the providers of a number of poor families. The number of meals prepared by the community kitchens during the last years exceeded 6,500,000 meals as follows:
FOOD SECURITY
"Choubbak Amal" distributed
"Choubbak Amal" distributed portions of meat to locals in (Qaboun, Al Moadamyeh, and Eastern Ghouta). "Choubbak Amal's" projects for food security are not limited to distributing food. "Choubbak Amal" used 5 strategic food warehouses , their goods were prone to storage up to 12 months, and it is worthy to mention that "Choubbak Amal" was distributing food boxes monthly in many regions as Al Moadamyeh.
CANNING AND CONSERVING FACTORIES
For Women and people with special needs
"Choubbak Amal" started operating two canning and conserving factories in (Al Hameh, Qaboun), which coordinated with the kitchens and supplied them with essential materials for cooking. Women and people with special needs were mainly hired and managed to produce around 170 tons of food. Moreover, using local expertise, canned foods were produced and supplied with a shelf life of at least one year to the locals. The canned foods included, but were not limited to, apricot jam, tomato paste, pickled cucumbers, cabbages, carrots and cheese.
LIVE STOCK
Dairy cows and Hens
"Choubbak Amal" carried out projects to raise dairy cows, breed them and produce milk, and raise hens in Al Moadamyeh and Qaboun. Dairy cows: providing milk for 1000 children on a daily basis during 2015, in addition to fewer distributions during 2013 and 2014 for lack of resources and funding. Hens: distributing 1400 hens to poor families who have some experience in poultry farming.
RECLAMATION FOR AGRICULTURAL PURPOSES
Supported reclamation's projects
"Choubbak Amal" supported reclamation's projects of 4 small lands in Al Moadamyeh and one land of 10 acres in the southern region of Damascus (Yalda). The crops were distributed for free.
The beneficiaries: Yalda 850 families and Al Moadamyeh 40 families.
