THE ATTACK AGAINST “CHOUBBAK AMAL” COMMUNITY KITCHEN IN  BARZEH

On 1/11/2015 at 4 am, unidentified persons with the purpose of impairing the civil and aid work in the regions under siege and out of the regime’s control set fire to the electricity distribution system in “Choubbak Amal”’s kitchen in the under siege neighborhood of Barzeh.

The fire caused minor physical damage to the kitchen without casualties thanks to the intervention of the locals and their efforts to put out the fire immediately.

Our logistics team fixed the damage instantly after the attack and so, the work in the kitchen did not stop. The community kitchen in Barzeh serves more than 3,000 hot meals daily to the destitute locals and refugees.

The “Choubbak Amal” condemns this attack and appeals to the local authorities in the neighborhood to investigate immediately and to uncover the perpetrators of the attack. On the other hand, it expresses gratitude to the locals who helped put out the fire.

The “Choubbak Amal” organization asks all parties to respect the work of the organizations, the aid and civil workers, protect them and spare them from the attacks.
